What is a file extension?
A file extension is like a tail, As it is attached at the end of a file name. It usually separated from a file name by a full stop. It tells the computer what type of file it is and which software is required to open that file then the computer opens up the file using that software.

How to change/unhide file extensions in your computer ?
If you will unhide the file extension then you will be able to edit the file extensions by renaming your file name.
Firstly, Open Control Panel in your Windows.
Then Click on the Appearance option in the home page of your Control panel. If you are not able to find the Appearance option then you just type Folder options in the search bar.
After selection Appearance option in the Control Panel. Click Folder Options.
Now select the view tab in the folder option dialogue box.
After selecting the View tab in the folder option dialogue box. Now search for the “Hide extensions for known file types”.
You need to uncheck the box.
You need to uncheck the box.
Now click on Apply and then press OK.
After you will perform this setting. All your files will appear with the file extensions at the end and you can rename the file with its extension you want.
